Futures end

Universal Studios Hollywood has announced the final
day of operation for its Back to the Future ride:
Sept. 3, Labor Day in the U.S.

The ride will be replaced by the new Simpsons ride,
which will open in Spring 2008.

The park also will be giving away a 1981 DeLorean as
pat of the festivites on Labor Day to close the ride.
Visitors can enter the drawing for the car at kiosks
in the park.

This is one of those lazy "slap a new character set on top of the old ride" retrofits, isn't it? A virtual tour of springfield or something?

Who knows. They ripped out ET to put in the Mummy coaster so they may just tear this down. Thats the beauty of non disney funparks...
You just might get a new attraction not just a retrofit.

Hey ya ever wondered why that damn dracula's castle is still there? You know the one that had Conan in it for so long? That building has been sliding down that hill for years and they still havent torn it down. Odd. I wonder if its a legal thing? I know a few employees sued because the building was unsafe yet they used it for an employee break room. In fact it was the only option for certain costumed actors.

Why the hell have they not torn that down?

My prediction for the ride:
In line, you'll find out that Homer has been left in charge of Maggie... and now SHE'S MISSING! You will then be led into a pink Simpsons car, where you will drive around the city looking for the lost child. At one point Professor Frink will bathe the car in "Frink Rays," which will cause the car to fly, but this will wear off. The highlight of the ride will be following Bart on his skateboard as he makes a spectacular jump over Springfield Gorge. Then you'll go back to the house and discover that Marge came home early and took Maggie while Homer was sleeping.

If the ride matches that, I expect FIVE DOLLARS CASH from Universal Studios. You can be my lawyer.

Guests will be rocketed along with the Simpson family on a hysterical, almost unimaginable adventure. They'll experience a side of Springfield previously unexplored as they enjoy the new ride's interpretation of the thrill rides, dark rides and "live" shows that make up a new fantasy amusement park dreamed up by the show's cantankerous Krusty the Clown

While watching a video on a giant screen that spans the entire room, guests will be sitting in a vehicle, "moving along with the action," says the spokesman for Universal, Tom Schroeder.

Hey - as long as they are serving Flaming Moe's on the ride, I'm there.
