I 'll still fall asleep halfway thru.

How many versions are out there now?
Lets see:
The original theatrical release.
Countless cable TV recuts.
The directors cut that played in Westwood for two weeks and was never seen again.
The other directors cut that made it to dvd.

And now the other other directors cut. Now called THE FINAL CUT.
Coming in September you'll now be able to own the true directors cut of Blade Runner.
(until they decide to recut it... again.)

If you know of any other versions let me know.

I can think of only one other contemporary Sci-Fi film that has more official recuts. Any guesses as to what that film could be?

They need to stop the madness! I understand a director wanting to do a cut closer to their original vision but this just reeks of a sad attempt to get more money from the fans.

Does anyone know if Scott is working from his original notes? Or is this another case of a director looking back on work they did years ago with a different perspective and editing the guns out like Spielberg did in that awful ET directors cut?

More Info:
To celebrate the film's 25th anniversary, the studio will unveil "Blade Runner: The Final Cut," Scott's definitive new version of his science-fiction masterpiece. The film will be released theatrically in select major U.S. cities, followed by a multi-disc Special Edition DVD release which will also contain three alternate versions of Blade Runner: the Original U.S. Theatrical Cut, the Expanded International Theatrical Cut and the 1992 Director's Cut. Ample, ground-breaking bonus features will also be included.

So its not a real release but another repackage of products we already have.
