The day the clown cried fag.

Jerry Lewis drops the "other F bomb" during his show last night.
Its ok because gay people don't get offended when you call them fags because they are not real people. They don't have rights like real Americans.
You can disrespect them all you want.

In the 18th hour of the 21 1/2-hour telethon Monday, Lewis -- bow tie undone and shirt collar open -- stumbled around the set at the South Coast Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, marveling at the cameraman's ability to keep up with him.

"Look how good he moves that camera, you son of a gun. Wherever I go, he goes," said Lewis, 81.

"Let's see what you do with this over here," the comedian added. Lewis then gestured toward two other cameras on the set.

"Oh, your family has come to see you. You remember Bart, your oldest son," he said, pointing to one camera.

"Jessie, the illiterate fag," Lewis said, pointing to the other.

"No," he said then, as some audience members laughed.

He clearly does not say Fatty as some people have claimed. There is a hard "gee" sound and of course the audible groans from the in-studio people don't help his situation.

Granted yes he is talking about the reading ability and sexual preference of a TV camera but... it was a hateful thing to say and the "comedian" should go to rehab.

In a statement Tuesday, Lewis said he was making "a joking comment to a member of my production team."

"I apologize to anyone who was offended," he went on. "Everyone who knows me understands that I hold no prejudices in this regard. In the family atmosphere of the telethon, I forget that not everyone knows me that well.

"That something like this would distract from the true purpose of the telethon pains me deeply. ... I accept responsibility for what I said. There are no excuses," he said.

This isn't the first time Lewis has said something insensitive.
In 1990, he wrote a first-person essay entitled "If I Had Muscular Dystrophy" for PARADE magazine, in which he characterized those with muscular dystrophy as "being half a person." Many in the disabled community viewed his remarks as prejudicial, contributing to the idea that disabled people are "childlike, helpless, hopeless, nonfunctioning and noncontributing members of society." On May 20, 2001, he responded to his critics in an interview on CBS News Sunday Morning: "If you don't want to be pitied for being a cripple in a wheelchair, don't come out of the house." Again, disability rights activists blasted him for characterizing disabled people as helpless and homebound.

During an appearance at a comedy festival in 2000 he was asked who were his favorite female comedians.
"I don't like any female comedians," he responded, going on to say that seeing a woman doing comedy "sets me back a bit. ... I think of her as a producing machine that brings babies into the world."

His apology was less than perfect and sounds a lot like the one released today :
On 5 September 2000 Jerry Lewis recanted his comment that he didn't like female comedians. Sort of. He told CNN's Larry King that he admires such comedians as Whoopi Goldberg and the late Lucille Ball. But he also said some of them make him uncomfortable. "Why? Because I'm old fashioned, " said Lewis, 74. "I still open doors for ladies, I still move a seat under for a lady, and my wife gets the kind of glorious attention that a lady is entitled to... I have a difficult time seeing her do this on stage, " he added, making a pumping motion under his armpit.

A few years ago Jerry Lewis remarked on the "Today" show that he used the restroom while flying over Mississippi, "Fufilling a longstanding ambition."

I hope everone from Mississippi returns the favor on your gravesite.

I'm waiting Jerry. You've been at the top of my list for a while and you have yet to grant me the satisfaction of knowing "THE DAY THE CLOWN CRIED" will soon be released. I don't think you should have fired your publicist so soon do you? Frank, Dean and Sammy are waiting. Go to the light.

Funny, I was watching this really bad documentary about Dean Martin on KQED last night where they were raving about how he was equal to if not better than Sinatra. Granted, Martin was not bad, but when they got to the Lewis-Martin section I called it quits. I consider Lewis to be witless and annoying then, now and always. And I'm half French!
